Campaign 2012
HEROES NEEDED!
Not the Hollywood version- no special effects and computer generated super powers- but the real, every day kind of hero. The kind that quietly makes a difference in their world. The kind of hero that sees a need, and bravely steps up to meet it.
What kind of need? It could be the family who got their mortgage payments reduced so they can stay in their home. Or the troubled child learning discipline and self-confidence at Graz’n Acres Therapeutic Riding. Or the senior on I-Ride who got to his doctor’s appointment on time. With your help, these scenarios and many more occur every day.
Last year United Way funded agencies provided over 22,000 services here in Franklin and Southampton to your friends and family, neighbors and co-workers. United Way gave $186,500 in grants to help make this happen. Today we are faced with a $50,000 shortfall for 2012. This comes at a time when agencies are seeing increased demands for services. More people need food, rent and utilities assistance – the basic necessities of life.
But even more important, people need help to become self-sufficient – mentoring and tutoring so kids graduate from high school and continue their education; budget counseling and debt management so families can stay in their home; self-confidence and leadership skills so teens and young adults can prosper.
As our community hero, you have the awesome power to change lives. Will you help fill the gap?
SAVE THE DAY. GIVE TODAY. BE OUR HERO.
This pie-chart shows where your money goes – what percentage of the $186,500 funding was awarded for Basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter; Education, Health, and Income/Financial Stability programs.

*Total grants ($186,500) plus administrative budget ($44,605) total $219,105. An additional amount of $43,105 was used from cash reserves for the agency grants.
